You deserve this

I was totally out of control…

I don’t know why…

Sound familiar? We were in a sesh with a client the other day that was feeling out of control around food.

Her underlying belief? I deserve it.

She deserved that glass of wine. The cookie. The hot italian (it’s a sandwich, ladies!).

But did she also deserve the extra calories? The hangover?
The gross feeling of eating too much that lingers into the next day/week?

The disappointment of not feeling the way she wanted to feel? Or not reaching her goals?

She wasn’t giving herself what she deserved. She was giving herself excuses.

When you say, “I deserve it,” as Ice Cube says, you better run a check.

What do you deserve? You deserve to take care of yourself. To provide yourself with nutrition that’s going to fuel you in a way that makes you feel good, not regret. To make decisions that are for you, not ultimately against you.  Decisions that remind you that you are the one that’s in control of you.

There are sooo many ways to justify behavior that isn’t serving you.

Be onto yourself. Raise your standard of what you’re willing to accept.

It’s your choice. Because you’re in charge of you.
